Undergrad awards - The Undergrad awards are taking place on Thursday morning, September 28th, in the Zone, as follows:
current Grade 10's: 8:30 to 9:15
current Grade 12's: 9:40 to 10:20
current Grade 11's: 11:00 to 11:45
Students, please report to your classroom at the beginning of the period, do not go directly to the Zone. Attendance will be taken in your classroom.
Cross country results - The Zodiacs Senior Boys team are Zone 4 Cross Country Champions! Lucas Froese, Coen Unrau, Phys Soe and Isaiah Vandenberg captured the title with gutsy runs in St. Malo yesterday at the Zone 4 Cross Country Meet.
National Day for Truth & Reconciliation - Each year in Canada, September 30th marks the commemoration of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This day “honours the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process” (Government of Canada, 2022)
As this year's commemoration falls on a Saturday, GVC staff and students are invited to wear orange T-shirts or clothing and/or wear an “Every Child Matters” sticker on Friday, September 29th. Stickers will be available as students arrive at school in the morning for those who wish to honour and remember in this way.
Check out the TV screens around the school to learn more about how you can help work towards reconciliation and healing on Turtle Island.
SAGA – Join us at SAGA for games and a video in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation! We hope to see you there 😊
Language Exams - The Winnipeg School Division is running special language exams this fall for students fluent in a language that is not English.
If you are interested in earning up to 4 language credits, and are willing to complete an exam in Winnipeg, please see Mr. Derksen or Ms Howe by Monday, October 4th.
